Common Image – Can we trust everything we see?
Há muito que os seres humanos produzem imagens. Muito antes da invenção dos ecrãs, formas e representações já proliferavam enquanto aberturas entre o ser e o outro. Desde a primeira mão a se deixar marcar nas paredes de uma caverna até os dias de hoje, sua produção e difusão diversificou-se numa escala inimaginável. Moedas, notas, pinturas, igrejas, museus, fotografias, telas de projeção e empenas digitais em prédios gigantescos ajudam a contar os caminhos até aqui traçados. Mas podemos confiar nelas? No próximo encontro, inspirados pela obra de Marie-José Mondzain, vamos investigar um assunto iniciado na última sessão. Suspeitamos que há relações muito perigosas com a imagem e somente compreendendo o que é commumnicável seremos capazes de ultrapassar os riscos inerentes às formas e representações que nos rodeiam.
*** ENG – Human beings have been producing images for a long time. Long before the invention of screens, forms and representations proliferated as openings between the self and the other. From the first hand to mark itself on the walls of a cave to the present day, their production and dissemination has diversified on an unimaginable scale. Coins, banknotes, paintings, churches, museums, photographs, projection screens and digital gables on gigantic buildings help tell the story of the paths traced so far. But can we trust them? At the next meeting, inspired by the work of Marie-José Mondzain, we’re going to investigate an issue we started in the last session. We suspect that there are very dangerous relationships with the image and only by understanding what is commonplace will we be able to overcome the risks inherent in the forms and representations that surround us.
