Contámos histórias desde muito tempo. As imagens na caverna, os livros na biblioteca, as canções do rádio ou os documentários da televisão comprovam a multiplicidade de formas que encontramos para fazê-lo. A filosofia da história debateu por muito tempo os rumos que os vitoriosos dão ao que é de todos, desafiando inclusive a ideia de uma grande história. Por outro lado, uma onda de estudos sobre o si mesmo, e sobre a forma como relatamos nos mesmos, resgatou os dilemas de uma história autobiográfica, voltada para o que esquecemos ou desejamos apagar. Em nosso próximo encontro, partindo de textos de Walter Benjamin e de Judith Butler, iremos explorar esses dilemas em busca de uma forma de narração que permita a emergência do comum.
Common Accounting – when does telling a story become a way of finding the other?
We have been telling stories for a long time. The images in caves, the books in libraries, the songs on the radio, and the documentaries on television prove the multitude of ways we have found to do so. The philosophy of history has long debated the direction that victors give to what belongs to everyone, even challenging the idea of a monumental narrative. On the other hand, a wave of studies about the self, and how we account ourselves, has revived the dilemmas of autobiographical history, focused on what we forget or wish to erase. In our next meeting, based on texts, by Walter Benjamin and Judith Butler, we will explore these dilemmas in search of a form of accounting that allows the emergence of the common.
